Parfums Balint is a perfume manufactory founded in a silent small town in Serbia, in Kanjiza. The founding father of the manufactory, Csaba Balint, has been convinced to follow his abiding dream of becoming a perfume master during a short visit to Paris in 2014, where he had the opportunity to study from a Hungarian perfumer, Viktoria Minya. When he has returned to his hometown 4 years of self-improvement and enduring work has followed and in 2018 he created his first fragrance, called Balifleur. His creations aspire outstanding quality and unique compositions thus synchronizing the basics of modern perfume making with a great amount of creativity and the love of the profession. His fragrances are specific for not only clarity and elegance but also firmness and depth with a drop of playful rounding which accompanies the birth and development of the whole Parfums Balint brand.

BALIFLEUR

A creamy, mellow, spicy flower composition with the citrusiness of bergamot oil and a lively wild strawberry accord at its inception, which is then brought together by a bouquet of white flowers such as the gardenia, champaca, Spanish and Arabian jasmine absolute. This arrangement provides the perfect base for the scent’s central component, the deep, sultry, creamy-coconutty tuberose absolute which is made coquettishly playful by such noble spices as saffron absolute, cumin and nutmeg flower extracts. Finally, it rests on the white musky, faintly balmy, lush velvet pillow of cashmir wood.

TERRA HUNGARIA - AFTER RAIN

The beginning, the start, something new is set in motion. In the summer, I find myself in a green field where the sea of young, green wheat meets the cornfield. Clover on the right, chamomile on the left border the horizon. A little further away, the scents from the water-lily pond surrounded by reeds mix with the milky scents of the yellow corn silk peeking from the ends of corncobs. From somewhere in the distance, the sour, fruity scent of blackthorn flies up, bringing with it the familiar, fierce green scent of tomato beds. The first summer rainfall has just passed. It enriches the moist, green, fresh ether coming from the black earth with ozone, as it surrounds us, it creates a familiar aura, the scent of Hungarian land after rain.

Birth of Terra Hungaria

The Hungarian-based Örökség Alkotóműhely - Heritage Maunufactory, founded by Krisztina Katrics, has been working for 11 years to renew our inherited values in our dress culture. Terra Hungaria was born of the idea that a fragrance should be present as part of our outfit, made using essential oils grown and distilled in the Carpathian Basin. It impels us to recall the scents of our homeland, bringing closer a wider audience, especially women, to the essence we know as motherland, arable land. The Terra Hungaria perfume series, a special fragrance collection by Krisztina Katrics and Csaba Bálint, aims to capture all of this.

SYMPHONY OF MUSIC AND PERFUME

The one-year-long amazing collaboration and creative process the Hungarian Pannon Philharmonic invited me to has brought about two perfumes, one for Her, and one for Him. On the request of and inspired by the ensemble celebrating their 210th anniversary, I have created and bottled the symphony of music and perfume, a common accord.

Soirée sans fin has a warm and mellow tone, with the ambergris accord as its central component, coupled with Cardamom, Mahogany, the creamy-feminine Tuberose, Bourbon Vanilla, and sea salt. Mahogany and Laos Oud evoke the feel of the woodwind instruments and the wood-paved concert hall of the Kodály Centre. Frankincense and Styrax resin recall the scent of rosining bows and bring us the aroma of warming up strings. While the fragrance of Ambergris, sea salt, and the Kashmir reinforce the chilly timbre of the brass instruments, Vanilla lends profundity and warmth to the composition. After a powerful overture, following the prominent, soloist-like chords, we perceive a mellow and gentle buzz whose memory will stay on our skin still for a long time.

SYMPHONY OF MUSIC AND PERFUME

The oriental, woody and spicy composition is supported by a dry, wooden base, rooted in Cedar, Indian nutgrass and Laos Oud warmed and mellowed by the trio of the marzipan accord, Tonka beans and Ambergris. A Mahogany, alongside Cedar and Oud, alludes to the woodwind instruments as well as the monumental and elegant spectacle of the Pécs-based concert hall. Styrax and Cistus resins kindle the unique scent of warmed up strings ready to work tirelessly. In this scent, the Japanese soy sauce, Shoyu, brings to us the sense of cold metal and the saltiness of seas, in reference to the orientally inspired composition - The Miraculous Mandarin ballet music by Béla Bartók - Csaba Bálint heard upon the first encounter with the Pannon Philharmonic in the Kodály Centre. The composition is crowned by the Saffron with its nobility and high quality, as the conductor's baton synthesises the complete symphonic timbre, taking it to higher spheres. The fragrance creation is closed with the concluding Civet accord, which lends depth and weight.
